Many friends, old and new, have been asking me about what I’ll be doing at college and whether I’ll keep you all in the loop.  As I start the next phase in my life, I’ve been thinking about what a wonderful childhood I’ve had. I’m honored to have grown in such a warm and loving community and I’m thankful to have known you all.  No matter how well I know you, if you’re reading this, you’ve had an impact on my life.

Thank you for the hours you’ve spent guiding and shaping me into the person I am today. 

As I move forward, I’m cognizant of all that you’ve done, but I’m also ready to move onto the next stage of my life and be independent.  I’d love to be able to update you as to my every move, thought, and feeling, but I simply can’t and still lead an independent life in reality.  I will be more distant in the future, but please do not take this personally–it is in no way a reflection of how close I feel to you. 

I won’t be as accessible simply because I’ll be living halfway across the country, indulging in my new life at college. 

That said, you’re welcome to contact me by any method.  However, I’m not making any promises as to how quickly I’ll respond.  I’m sure you understand. 

Also, you’re more than welcome to keep up with me on Facebook and Twitter. 

To aid this transition, let me give you a quick rundown of what my first weeks as college will entail:

-Tomorrow morning when I move in at 8am. I’m living in the French house with a Freshman roommate, Jake Collins. 

-On Friday I’ll take off for the weekend on an orientation trip. I’m going spelunking. 

-On Monday morning classes start. Here’s my schedule to the best of my knowledge:

-The first week is also filled with orientation activities, the highlight of which is Shirttails. This is a dance competition in which the uniform is a button-down shirt, tie, and boxers. I’ll post videos.
